the october edit.

Hi lovelies! I hope all my Canadian girls had an amazing and restful Thanksgiving weekend!

I’m back again with a monthly roundup of all my favourites — everything from fashion, beauty and lifestyle. This past weekend I spent away in Michigan and definitely did my fair share of fall shopping. I picked up a few new knits, blazers and thicker sweaters that I’m excited to style in the coming months now that the weather is finally starting to cool down! Follow along for a breakdown of all my current faves:

1. Baker boy hats

OK, I will admit that when I first saw this trend last year I literally laughed out loud and refused to give in to the trend. Now, a year later, these conductor-inspired hats have SERIOUSLY grown on me and so much so that they’ve landed on my favourites list! Baker boy hats add such a cute touch to a simple outfit and are a great accessory for fall. I’ve been obsessed with wide-brim hats for years so this look is basically just an upgrade on that look. I think they’re super chic looking and make me feel some serious Parisian vibes every time I wear one! Shop here.

2. Bath & Body Works candles

How could I possibly make an October edit without a festive candle to get in the fall mood?! Bath & Body works has all their classics out again and they recently had a buy one, get one sale that obviously I had to take advantage of ;). I picked up my all-time favourite candle “Leaves” and a new one called “Flipping Awesome” which is pumpkin pecan waffle flavour. As I write this, “Leaves” is burning in the background and Hocus Pocus is playing on TV so you could probably say I’m slightly embracing fall these days. Shop here.

3. OleHenrikson Truth Serum

One thing I’ve yet to truly get into is skincare! Makeup and fashion are definitely my forte but skin care is always something that confused me — serum? toner? eye cream? UH HELP. So after watching one of my favourite YouTubers Lauren Elizabeth rave about the Ole Henrikson Truth Serum I knew I had to give it a shot! This product is loaded with Vitamin C which boosts the collagen in your skin and helps with anti-aging, reduces brown spots and increases radiance. I use this after I cleanse my skin every night and have noticed a HUGE difference in the texture of my skin when I wake up! My skin is smooth and bright which makes it much easier to apply makeup and sometimes even makes me feel like I don’t need foundation at all. I also struggle with a few spots of acne scarring and have noticed that this product makes a big difference in lightening these areas. Shop here.

4. Pearl details

What could possibly be better than a classy and timeless pearl necklace? JUST a piece of clothing covered in pearls obviously!! Pearls are everywhere this season and I’m seriously loving this trend. I originally was on the search for a pair of high-waisted pearl studded jeans but when I saw this grey sweater hanging in H&M I knew I had to get it! This knit is cozy, oversized and covered with different sized pearls and gems. I love that the pearls are almost a subtle detail since the sweater is such a light shade of heather grey. This is definitely one of my favourite purchases of the season so far. Shop here.

5. Pointed slingback heels

One of my biggest struggles working in a “business casual” but more casual office environment is where the line is when it comes to jeans. I’ve always thought of good quality dark jeans as a go-to for the office but with high-waisted Levi’s and raw hemlines taking over the fashion world this season I’ve struggled with how to still stay on trend with these styles and still look professional. Something I’ve learned through experimentation is that a good heel can make all the difference when it comes to looking put-together and polished! I recently bought a pair of pointed toe, black slingback heels that are made of a cracked leather texture and they do wonders at dressing up a look. I love throwing on a T-shirt, Levi jeans, a structured blazer and these pointed-toe pumps for a casual yet professional office look. Definitely worth the investment! Shop the look here.

6. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Mario Badescu is seriously killing it in the affordable skincare section! Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve never been all that into skincare so recently I’ve decided to test a few products I’ve heard that others love and was curious about. This Mario Badescu drying lotion seemed to be on everyone’s must-have list and is TOTALLY on mine now as well! This product is definitely the best I’ve tried for drying out active acne spots. I use a dot of this on a spot before I go to bed and wake up in the morning with it completely gone or diminished significantly in terms of redness, size and inflammation. The one thing that you need to know before trying this is that the pink sediment is supposed to stay at the bottom! Don’t shake or stir this product. Simply dip a Q-tip into the bottom of the bottle and into the sediment and place accordingly on active breakouts. Shop here.

7. Vinyl textures

Leather skirts have always been one of my favourite styles so when I saw that vinyl was blowing up this season I knew I had to pick up a new piece in this texture! The vinyl skirt look is essentially an elevated take on the classic leather skirt but features a high-shine texture. I’ve seen vinyl pants and trenches but thought a skirt was the safest way to wear this trend without going overboard! I love pairing a vinyl skirt with something more casual on the top like a lightweight knit or button up like I did here. Shop the skirt here.
