For a long time I was hesitant about boyfriend jeans. Well in all honesty, I was hesitant about any trend that was slightly out of my comfort zone. My head would reel as I crafted amazing outfits in my mind with the beautiful pieces I’d see hanging on the racks of stores or on my Instagram feed. But whenever I got the chance to cultivate that look myself, I’d walk by the piece multiple times, sometimes even try it on, only to conclude that I would never have the nerve to actually wear it out.
But then suddenly something inside me caved and I started having these epiphany moments where “comfort zones” just didn’t exist anymore. I found myself shamelessly rocking the bold pieces I was once so skeptical about with complete confidence and my head held high. I FINALLY started to realize that there is no time like the present to be eccentric. Life is too short to play it safe and leave the pieces we truly want to be wearing on the pages of magazines. What was I so apprehensive about in the first place?
At the end of the day, the only relevant factor in your style decisions is that YOU feel comfortable and confident in what you wear! Finding your personal style is all about incorporating pieces that are true to you and reflect your own personality. If you’re constantly dressing to blend in or please others, you’re completely belittling that unique part of yourself begging for a way to shine through! Don’t settle for the white tee and sneakers if you really want to be wearing the velvet dress and block heels.
Moral of the story, I finally bought the boyfriend jeans. For too long I incredulously passed them up thinking they would drown my shape or what others might think, but the jeans pictured in this post have been my go-to denim ever since I bought them. Be true to your instincts if a certain piece catches your eye despite how out of your comfort zone they may be! Your uniqueness should not be bounded by fear.
